Forty-Four Days….Forty-Eight Matches….Twenty Nations…Eleven Venues

In October and November 2003, Australia played host to one of the greatest Rubgy World Cups, with twenty (20) nations from around the world vying for the Webb Ellis Cup. After forty-eight (48) matches were played at eleven (11) different venues across the country, it was the boot of Johnny Wilkinson that was the difference between England and Australia in the final at Telstra Stadium in Sydney.

Our team were involved in the on-site venue planning and daily operations delivery for the Rugby World Cup (RWC) Committee, providing key services including event overlay & infrastructure design and implementation, event management & operations, event logistics and project management.

Additionally, our team members acted as the venue management lead for the Win Stadium in Wollongong and the Central Coast Stadium in Gosford, where the United States National Rugby Union Team (USA Rugby) was involved in the highest attended games at both venues. Key activities undertaken on both sites included the design and integration of broadcast media infrastructure, management of the event logistics crews and management of the implementation budget and associated event contracts. Detailed planning of the event closure phase was also pivotal to ensure smooth reinstatement of both venues post tournament.
