The Middle East has quickly established a reputation this millennia for holding world-class events in state of the art facilities. The 2006 Doha Asian Games was a landmark event in the Asian calendar and its success set the new benchmark for hosting events in the region.

The EPG team delivered a number of services to the event including event management & operations, athlete village operations, athlete & event catering and event overlay & infrastructure and continue to have an active involvement in the region to this day.

We played a pivotal part in the early strategic planning of the venues for the games, the first to be held in this region. The event ultimately attracted a record thirteen thousand (13,000) athletes and officials with our team acting as venue manager for the West Bay Lagoon Rowing venue and the regional head of operations for the following venues;

  • Mesaaieed Endurance Course – Equestrian Endurance
  • West Bay Lagoon – Rowing
  • Doha Sailing Club – Sailing
  • Corniche – Cycling, Athletics, Triathlon

All of these venues required significant event overlay & infrastructure, spectator services and event safety and event security planning. This planning was particularly important for those events on the Doha Corniche where the venue, outside of the event period, was normally public space and had to be commissioned and reinstated with minimal impact to the city.
