EPG assists Azerbaijan in becoming a major event destination

Azerbaijan is seeking to raise its profile as a great city to host global events. After originally bidding to host the 2016 olympics games, Baku, the capital and largest city of Azerbaijan, engaged a number of global experts in preparation for its 2020 olympic bid and associated venue infrastructure.

The EPG team played a key role in the development of a chapter of the ‘Bid Book’ for the event, including a cost management outline of the event overlay & infrastructure for the bid and preliminary estimates for the event logistics and athlete village operations functions.

Ultimately the work completed paved the way for Baku being selected as the host city for the 2015 European Games and has been pivotal in the construction of numerous venues in preparation for future bids, including the 68,700 capacity retractable roof stadium in Boyuk Shor.
